Uncomfortable. Unfamiliar. Words to describe things we don’t understand or sometimes even things we fear.
I have only lived in Florida for less than two years but I have gotten really accustomed to nice, relatively flat roads. So today, as I drove in the Colorado mountains I felt those words sink into my soul. And I felt my fear climbing into the front seat of the car and trying to drive.
So I had to do something that I normally wouldn’t do. I slowed down. I let go of the need to go fast and just took my time. Slowed down when the grade got too steep and I felt out of control. And sped up when the road was flat and manageable.
So, I lived my simple “slow down, speed up” philosophy. It is ok to take some things slow and then speed up when you get the chance.
And remember that fear never gets to even be near the front seat. He sits in the “way back” seat.
